Cacao and Mint Chip Smoothie

I’ve been loving fresh mint lately, especially paired with dark chocolate (I mean who doesn’t)?

This is your healthy take on the classic mint chocolate chip milkshake we all know and love. Enjoy! 

 

MILK:

Keeping this shake plant based choose your favorite milk alternative. I recommend keeping it light with an unsweetened almond milk, but soy, oat, or coconut milk should work just fine (might just feel a little heavier). 

 

MINT:

I definitely recommend using fresh mint for this recipe versus a mint extract. You can find fresh mint in the refrigerated produce section of your local grocery store. 

 

CACAO: 

Cacao nibs, often named “nature’s chocolate chips” are rich in antioxidants, helping to reduce cell damage, and in turn prevent chronic disease. I love to add these rich chips to smoothies, açaí bowls, oat bowls, or on top of date bites! I will expand on the benefits of cacao nibs in a future post. For now just enjoy this recipe!

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup almond milk, vanilla (unsweetened) 

1/2 avocado 

1/3 banana (frozen)

1 cup spinach (frozen)

10 fresh mint leaves

1 tbsp cacao nibs 

1 scoop vanilla protein powder

 

PROCESS:

1) Add all ingredients, EXCEPT cacao nibs to high-speed blender and blend until desired thickness is reached 

2) Add cacao nibs at the end and blend for 1-2 seconds 

3) Enjoy
